Insulin pump therapy is a method of insulin replacement therapy that uses a small device to deliver continuous and customized doses of rapid-acting insulin 24 hours a day to match your body's needs. The insulin pump delivers insulin to your body in two ways: background (basal) insulin, which are small amounts of insulin that are released continuously throughout the day, and bolus insulin, which is delivered in larger amounts when you eat.
